| What's up with the friggin' cookies? Jim Nelson |
| If you've got your web browser configured to notify you every time a cookie1 is sent, then you probably know Ad Nauseam is sending you a few of them. What sort of deviousness am I up to? Maybe I'm compiling a list of frequent visitors and selling it to Suck, Slate, and HotWired. Perhaps I'm preparing for some massive email spam-a-thon. How about "none of the above." My ISP uses a version of the Apache HTTP server that automatically sends cookies to unsuspecting clients. Why? I have no idea. My ISP swears up and down they don't use the cookies for anything, and will be removing them the next time they upgrade the server. When will that be? Let me put it this way: CRL 's service is not exactly the model of speedy efficiency. I suspect they won't be upgrading until the Year 2000 Problem forces their hand. If cookies bug you (they bug the hell out of me), please feel free to register a complaint with CRL's support team: And tell them I sent you.
1This link will send you a cookie.
